0 VU is the analogue operating level, and in a ZEROPINK session it sits at −18 dBFS — the level analogue-designed tools expect to be fed. Modern sessions routinely run 15–20 dB hotter, which is why the same compressor sounds effortless in one mix and crushed in another. ZERO is the suite's level reference: stage to it once and every meter downstream agrees.
Pink noise carries equal energy per octave — the spectral shape a balanced mix settles into. Hold your program against it and every octave answers the same question: too much, too little, or in place. PINK is the suite's balance reference.
